Workspaces

Keep each business, project or app separate, with its own data, rules and people.

A workspace is one business, project or app in Meerkats. It holds that business’s connections, business context, agents, rules, people, proposals and history, and nothing from any other workspace. If you run one brand, you have one workspace. If you look after several brands, clients or markets, give each its own.

Every account starts with a Default Workspace. Paid plans include unlimited workspaces; the Free plan includes one. Workspaces are free; you pay for the credits agents use across them.

What a workspace holds#

Inside a workspaceShared across workspaces
Connections and their synced dataYour account: name, email, plan, credit balance
Business context: metrics, goals, conventions, memory, documentsApps and API keys (a key is scoped to the workspaces you choose)
Agents, rules, proposals and run historyNothing else. No data, context or history crosses a workspace boundary

Isolation

Workspaces are separated at the database level with row-level security: every query carries the workspace, and a key or a person without access to a workspace cannot read its rows. An agent in one workspace cannot see another’s data, even in the same account.

Create a workspace#

  1. Open Workspaces

Select the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar and choose + Create Workspace. Or select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Workspaces, then + Create Workspace.

  2. Name and describe it

Use the business’s name. The description is for your team; agents read it too, as context.

  3. Set its basics

Currency and time zone. Every report in the workspace uses them; platform data in other currencies is converted with the rate and date stamped.

  4. Connect and invite

Switch to the new workspace, connect its tools on Integrations, and share it with the people who work on it.

Switch between workspaces#

The switcher at the top of the sidebar shows the current workspace. Select it to see all your workspaces; the default is tagged Default. Everything in the sidebar (Cockpit, Reports, Agents, Inbox, Data Hub, Integrations) shows the selected workspace only.

The Workspaces page#

From your account menu, Workspaces lists every workspace you own or have been given access to, with:

ColumnMeaning
Workspace nameWith the Default tag on your default workspace
TypeMy Workspace (you own it) or Shared (someone shared it with you)
DescriptionWhat you wrote when creating it
Shared with / AccessHow many people it's shared with, and your access on shared ones
ActionsShare (the people icon) and Edit (the pencil)

Share a workspace#

Select the share icon on a workspace. The page is titled Share “<workspace>”.

  1. Add people

Under Add People, enter email addresses separated by commas.

  2. Choose the access level

Read Only - Can view but not edit or Read & Write - Can view and edit. See People and roles for what each allows.

  3. Share

Select Share Workspace. People who don’t have a Meerkats account get an invitation to create one. They appear under Shared With, where you can change their access or remove them.

The Activity log on the same page records every sharing and access change, plus data changes and automation, with who did it and when.

Workspaces for several businesses#

If you look after several brands or clients, one workspace each keeps everything separate and lets you share each with only its own people.

  • One sales source per workspace. Connect each brand’s store or marketplace account in its own workspace, so revenue and margin are that brand’s alone.
  • Shared ad accounts. If one ad account serves several brands, connect it in each workspace and pick that brand’s campaigns on the connection.
  • Your own view. Agents and reports are per workspace. For a view across all of them, use the API with a key scoped to every workspace, or a warehouse where Meerkats writes result tables.
  • Credits. Credits are per account and spent across workspaces. Plans & credits shows usage; the API’s run history shows which workspace used what.

Apps and white-label#

Under Apps in your account menu, you can build a product on top of your workspaces: your own name, logo, colours and support email, your own users signing up and logging in, and API keys issued under the app and scoped to the workspaces those keys may reach. The login screen and the password-reset email carry your branding. See the API overview.

Workspaces a key can see
GET /workspaces
→ [{ "id": "…", "name": "Northwind Growth", "is_default": true }, …]

Then send X-Workspace-Id: <id> on data calls.
Without it, the key's first workspace is used.

Edit or delete a workspace#

The pencil icon on the Workspaces page opens the workspace’s name, description, currency and time zone. Deleting a workspace removes its connections, data, agents and history; it asks you to type the name to confirm, and the default workspace can’t be deleted. Export anything you need from Reports and Charts or Agents run history first.

Troubleshooting#

I don't see Create Workspace

The Free plan includes one workspace. Upgrade from Plans & credits for unlimited workspaces.

A teammate can't see the workspace

Check Shared With on the workspace’s share page. Sharing is per workspace; being in one workspace doesn’t grant another.

Data from one workspace appears in another

It can’t. If two workspaces show the same campaigns, the same ad account is connected in both. Pick that brand’s campaigns on each connection.

The currency is wrong

Edit the workspace (pencil icon) and set the currency. Historical conversions are re-stamped at the next sync.
